Weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages of the Volkswagen Passat CC

Volkswagen Passat CC was released in 2008 and is essentially a four-door sedan, although it belongs to the class of so-called "comfort coupe". It was built on the basis of the already proven, reliable and loved by everyone Passat 6th generation, which in itself predicted the commercial success of the new product, because the target audience of the project had time to perfectly study all the advantages and disadvantages of this platform.

The new model differs from its “big brother” not only in the shapes and lines of the body, which clearly hints at a sporty character, but also in a higher level of equipment. During its production, which lasted right up to 2016, the model underwent one rather serious restyling, which took place in 2011. Since the release of the 7th generation Passat was launched in the same year, the appearance of the car in question was finalized according to the canons of the auto giant's new design philosophy.

Using special approaches to the development of car design, German engineers were able to significantly improve the appearance of the Volkswagen Passat CC, adding even more attractiveness and originality to the already beautiful car, which distinguishes it favorably from the background of the base model. However, no matter how good Volkswagen cars of this family are, they still have their weak points, which we will discuss later.

What are the main advantages and benefits of Passat CC

Before talking about the main disadvantages of this car, it is worth talking a little about its main advantages for consumers. These include:

  • High-quality interior trim materials;
  • High reliability;
  • Pleasant appearance;
  • Excellent and modern technical equipment is already in the basic configuration;
  • Excellent driving characteristics;
  • High-quality and bright light optics;
  • Low consumption (especially for versions with a diesel engine);
  • High level of comfort.

The main disadvantages of the Volkswagen Passat SS

  • Connecting rod and piston group;
  • robotic box;
  • Silent blocks of the front suspension;
  • Stabilizer's pole;
  • Rear calipers;
  • Paintwork;
  • High oil consumption;
  • Electrician.

Let's consider each of them in more detail:

Connecting rod and piston group.

This disease applies only to the 1.8 TSI engine in which, in order to increase engine efficiency, the most lightweight pistons were installed. Of course, this gave its result, but it greatly affected the resource of this mechanism. Owners of cars with such an engine have no choice but to put up with it and spin the engine up to the red mark of the tachometer as little as possible. If the blood of an inveterate racer flows in your veins, consider buying at least a 2-liter version.

robotic box.

About the troubles associated with the use of this checkpoint vaunted by German engineers, only the lazy did not speak. Moreover, people's opinions about the specific weaknesses of this type of checkpoint differ greatly. Some sin on constant clutch problems, others on mechatronics, but they all agree that DSG is an absolute evil and the intrigues of reptilians aimed at loosening the nervous system of a reasonable person. But the most interesting thing is that it is impossible not to agree with them. Therefore, if your car is equipped with a robotic gearbox and there is no manufacturer's warranty on it, get ready to empty your pockets at any time.

Front suspension bushings.

On all versions of the Volkswagen Passat CC without exception, there is a weak point, which consists in the rapid “fatigue” of the front silent blocks. For the most part, this defect is directly related to the deplorable state of 90% of domestic roads. Therefore, in order to keep your silent blocks in working condition as long as possible, choose the right speed for driving on problem areas of the road surface.

Stabilizer's pole.

This weakness is also directly related to the previous one. Fortunately, the cost and complexity of replacing stabilizer struts is an order of magnitude lower than similar operations with silent blocks, but an unpleasant aftertaste from constant replacement of stabilizer struts will haunt you throughout the entire life of the car.

Rear calipers.

On most of these machines, brake fluid leaks from the rear calipers and, as a result, loss of braking efficiency are common failures. You can solve the problem only by sorting out the calipers (the repair kit will cost about 2 thousand rubles), or by completely replacing them, which can significantly reduce the thickness of your wallet.

Paintwork.

The problems of operation also often include a weak paintwork, which suffers greatly from chips. This factory defect manifests itself especially strongly in the area of \u200b\u200bwheel arches. Therefore, carefully monitor the condition of the paintwork throughout the body, otherwise it will not be possible to avoid problems with premature corrosion.

High oil consumption.

A 1.8-liter gasoline engine often, and in fairly large quantities, likes to eat oil. The manual even spells out its nominal consumption, which is up to 1 liter per 10,000 km. But, as a rule, these indicators are far from reality. In our world, the average oil consumption is two or even three times higher than the nominal one, and only increases with mileage. And the worst thing is that nothing can be done about it.

Electrician.

Whatever they say about the quality of the electrical filling of Volkswagen cars, the car in question is an exception to the rule. In our harsh conditions, anything can fail in it, at any time. Most often, from frost, salt and humidity, malfunctions of the following systems appear:
