Throttle valve.

Probably the most important drawback of the car in question is its throttle. By itself, this mechanism would be very reliable if the engineers did not decide to introduce plastic damper gears into it. Why this was done no one knows, but it is known for certain that this miscalculation can be eliminated by installing metal gears. Fortunately, there are people who can make them for you and sell them for little money.

Wheel bearings.

This disease applies to all Audi Q7 1st generation and is the rapid wear of the front wheel bearings. The reason for this is the mass of the machine, most of which falls on the front axle. This can only be explained by the fact that the engineers did not consider it necessary to install more powerful bearings in the hubs, dooming the owners to constant visits to the service station to replace them.

Hydraulic block automatic transmission.

This defect, for the most part, is relevant only to owners of versions with a 3-liter “diesel” under the hood. With a range of already 100 thousand km. unpleasant vibrations and shocks may occur when the “Drive” and “Parking” modes are turned on, which is caused by clogging of the valve body valves. The issue is resolved, at best, by cleaning this unit, or by completely replacing the control valves, which can cost a pretty penny.

Front arms.

The next weak point, as in the case of wheel bearings, is due to the large mass of the car and insufficiently strong elements of its suspension, which especially affects driving on our “beautiful” roads. Depending on the operating conditions, the front levers can serve from 80 to 130 thousand.

Body position sensor.

For gasoline modifications of 4.2 liters, a body position sensor is a frequent breakdown. You will immediately learn about the malfunction of this node by the inadequate reactions of the car to attempts to reduce or increase ground clearance. This is due to the fact that the sensor itself is attached to the bottom of the car and is poorly protected from the effects of water and dirt, so its failure is only a matter of time.

Interior heater motor.

The 4.2-liter versions have another weakness, which is the heater motor, which may stop working without warning. This is caused by design miscalculations in its production, as a result of which the rotor winding simply burns out, putting the entire mechanism out of action.

Trapeze of janitors.

On almost all machines of this model, there is a nuisance in the form of wear on the wiper trapezoid bushings, as a result of which the wipers themselves begin to play and do not clean the windshield well. There are 2 scenarios here: you can order repair bushings and install them on an old trapezoid (which will come out much cheaper), or buy a new mechanism.

Thermostat.

On many Audi Q7s, operating problems are often attributed to their “weak” thermostats, which for unknown reasons can jam both in the closed and in the open position. Fortunately, this unit is not expensive and changes quite simply even in garage conditions, but an unpleasant aftertaste from such a miscalculation still remains.

Air compressor.

In almost all modifications equipped with air suspension, there is a high probability of failure of the air compressor. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that if it breaks, it will be almost impossible to move around by car on your own. Symptoms of an imminent breakdown of this mechanism may be extraneous noise during its operation and a long reaction to the command to lift the machine. If something like this is observed in your car, get ready to empty your pockets, because this knot costs very decent money.
